I have a copy of Windows XP Home OEM Hewlettt Packer partition I was working with on one of my external hard drives so I started uninstalling OEM software until the Vista laptop connected to the printer and I no longer got the " access denied message". Ha, but Melonhead is a genius because now I knew for certain it was the Windows XP Home OEM HP desk top that was preventing Vista on my laptop from connecting to the printer. So I found this message board and followed Melonhead's discovery and it didn't work either.
I was trying to share the printer on the HP desktop with Vista on my laptop and for four hours no matter what I did I got "Windows cannot connect to the printer. I got every single one of them to connect to the main desktop printer except the laptop Vista.
I have been trying to figure out what makes VIsta tick and have three operating systems on three PC's here in my office. Nope, it still didn't work after following Melonhead's suggestion.
